How do I become a member?

Reach out to our Executive Director, who will send you an electronic new member application. Applications are reviewed at the monthly Board of Director meetings.

What are the requirements of membership?

To be an SBR member, you must pay your annual dues and complete our annual metrics reporting form. Very similar to our new member application, this form allows us to provide our businesses with recognition for their improvements in sustainability and assists with tracking your own progress year after year.

Can I join as an individual?

Unfortunately, at the moment we are only allowing businesses (for-profit, not-for-profit, government and academic institutions) membership. Individual memberships are being considered for the future of SBR.

Can I join if my business doesn't have a presence in WNY?

At present, in order to maintain our place based efforts, all of our businesses must have a presence in Western New York. Geographic expansion is being strongly considered for the near future.

How do I use SBR’s member network?

The mission of SBR is to assist businesses in advancing their own sustainability goals, not to provide an avenue for selling your product. If organic collaborations occur along the way, even better! We also have vendor opportunities throughout the year, which facilitate interaction with our members.

How do I get involved after joining?

SBR hosts monthly educational events, networking events, and our annual Sustainable Business Summit. If you would like a more hands on approach, you can join one of our committees that meet monthly and add great capacity to our organization. Email our ED for more information about how to become involved.

How many of my employees can attend events free of charge?

All of them! When a business joins SBR, all employees can benefit from the perks of membership.
